The purpose of this study was to investigate physical characteristics of shoulders in high school baseball players. Range of motion (ROM) and pain provocative tests of shoulders in forty-one high school baseball players were performed. The players had no complaint that resulted in time lost from game or practice. The findings of these examinations were classified according to the dominance of shoulders and position of the players and described. Neer, Jobe, Hawkins test, and acromioclavicular tenderness were positive in 41.9%, 32.6%, 39.0%, and 41.5% of subjects respectively. Dominant shoulders had larger ROM of external rotation (p<0.05) and smaller ROM of internal rotation than non-dominant shoulders (p<0.05). The shoulders of pitchers showed larger ROM of external rotation than those of non-pitchers (p<0.05). In conclusion, the findings of this study were expected to be a basis for the clinical applications to baseball players. Key Words: Baseball, Range of motion, Pain provocative tests
